Emergency Services - 911 Dialing
Please read the following documents carefully, which outlines the differences and limitations between basic 911 Service (911) and traditional 911 service. By using the Carrytel VoIP service, you acknowledge that you are of legal age (18 years or older), and you agree to the terms and conditions as set out below. If you do not agree with any of the terms, do not use the VoIP Service provided by Carrytel.
- 1. Basic 911 Service and limitations:
-
The 911 Service that Carrytel provides is different from the traditional 911 service. All 911 calls will be routed to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), to which the caller has to verbally provide his/her address or location, and other information. The PSAP is operated by a third party, who will be responsible to connect your call to the appropriate emergency department. In case if you are unable to speak, the emergency respondent may not be able to dispatch units to you, or may only dispatch units to your last registered location, so it is your responsibility to keep all information up to date. However, your registered information, such as phone number and address, may not be available to the emergency respondent. Therefore, you should always be prepared to provide your phone number and address when making the call.
If the call is disconnected for any reason, the respondent may not be able to call you back, so you should re-dial 911 immediately.
It must be noted that basic 911 services may not function properly under these following scenarios:
- Power outage or interruption
- Equipment failure, including phones, adapters, cables, wires, USBs, ATAs, modems
- Internet outage, interruption or congestion
- Blocked Ports or IP address by ISPs, either intentionally or inadvertently
